MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The West Virginia University School of Nursing will soon offer an Expedited Summer Pathway to Morgantown students accepted into the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
By completing courses for two summer semesters, the expedited pathway will allow students to graduate nine months early. The pathway will initially accept eight students, all of whom will remain eligible for the same financial aid and scholarship opportunities as the traditional pathway.
“We see this pathway as an innovative opportunity for our students to graduate sooner and our hospitals to be equipped with the qualified nursing staff they need,” said Dr. Tara Hulsey, WVU School of Nursing Dean and E. Jane Martin Endowed Professor.
Students must have already completed their freshman year of prerequisite coursework to apply for the expedited pathway with the WVU School of Nursing.
“This is an excellent opportunity for our traditional BSN students to quickly progress through the program and graduate ahead of time,” said Dr. Tina Antill Keener, Director of BSN Programs. “This pathway offers the exact curriculum, clinical practice, and patient care opportunities as our traditional pathway, just on a faster timeline.”
Applications for the expedited pathway will be for fall only for students who have been admitted into the nursing program, beginning Fall 2026.
