The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Foundation has awarded the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy’s Rational Drug Therapy Program the prestigious 2025 Pinnacle Award. The program received the Team Award for Collaboration, Innovation, and Impact. The award honors those who have demonstrated significant scientific contribution and/or quality improvement projects in the medication use process.
Dr. Angela Wowczuk, program director and service assistant professor, accepted the award during a ceremony held at APhA Headquarters in Washington, D.C., on September 14.
Reflecting on the honor, Dr. Wowczuk said, “This award is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when pharmacists step forward to lead and collaborate with others. We are grateful to our partners at
the CDC, the West Virginia Department of Health, West Virginia Medicaid, the Public Employees Insurance Agency, and to the many prescribers and pharmacists who work alongside us every day. As proud Mountaineers, we are also thankful to the WVU School of Pharmacy, which has provided such a supportive and innovative home for the work of the Rational Drug Therapy Program.”
