The Office of Interprofessional Education 2019 IPE week will take place from Mar. 18 - 22. The theme for this year’s event is Team and Teamwork.
A series of events are scheduled to take place at Health Sciences and all faculty, staff and students are invited to attend. There are no fees for these programs.
The Office of Interprofessional Education was created to foster collaboration between all schools. Interprofessional education at the Health Sciences Center has been nurtured by the health professions schools and related disciplines learning together about the concepts of team-based healthcare services that promote patient-centered quality and safe care.

Escape Room – Pylons Lobby
9:30 – 5:00 p.m.
Rescue the Mountaineer who has been kidnapped by pirates! Register your team of 4-6 people with at least two disciplines to figure out the clues to save the Mountaineer. Prizes will be awarded for the fastest teams to escape.

Healthy Living Fair – Pylons Lobby
12:30 – 5:30 pm
Health Sciences students will provide point of care testing and interactive stations for faculty, staff and students. Interactive stations will feature naloxone training, smoking cessation, BMI testing and more. Giveaways and raffle prizes like the Fit Bit Versa will be available.

“Teams that Work” lecture by David J. Brailer M.D., Ph.D. – Room 2940 A&B

A leader in entrepreneurship in health care, specifically in the use of health information technology. He is currently the Chairman for Health Evolution, and education and research firm in San Francisco, CA. Dr. Brailer was appointed by George W. Bush as the nation’s first National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, or most notable, the first health IT czar, leading efforts to digitalize healthcare. He earned his MD from WVU in 1986 and went on to earn his PhD in economics from the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania in 1992. Dr. Brailer is originally from Kingwood, WV.
