An American Red Cross blood drive will be held Monday, Sept. 25, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the WVU Health Sciences Center Don Hoylman Family Atrium (South Tower).
The Red Cross is currently experiencing critical shortages of all blood types, particularly O+ and O- units.
An average of 1,000 units of red cells are transfused each month at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital and over 2,000 units/month across the System.
To make an appointment, call 1-800-RED-CROSS or go to RedCrossBlood.org and use the sponsor code: wvuhsc.
If you are an eligible type O, B- or A- donor, consider making a Power Red donation.
Red blood cells are the most commonly transfused blood component.
