Join the WVU Center for Black Culture in honoring the life of Martin Luther King Jr. from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, in the Mountainlair Ballrooms.
The celebration provides an opportunity for the WVU and greater Morgantown communities to come together to celebrate the life and legacy of King, and to recognize those in our community who have worked to uphold the principles of equality and social justice.
Jeneisha Harris, an activist, a community leader and the author of “Black Girl, Cry,” is the keynote speaker. Harris is a self-proclaimed rebel who works to empower Black women through literature and sisterhood and organize communities through Black nonprofits in Nashville, Tennessee.
Anitra Hamilton, a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates and WVU alumna, is the recipient of the 2024 MLK Achievement Award.
The event is free and open to the public.
