Health students encouraged to participate in interprofessional innovation challenge

Students enrolled in health sciences programs at WVU are invited to participate in the Interprofessional Student Clinic Innovation Challenge. The deadline to submit proposals has been extended to Nov. 15.

This year, teams of students are challenged with developing and implementing a healthcare project to address an identified healthcare issue within the state of West Virginia as well as an objective of Healthy People 2030. The Interprofessional Student Clinic Innovation Challenge is a pilot project for the 2024-25 academic year.

Project Details

• Teams must be comprised of learners (students or residents) from two or more health professional disciplines. Students from non-health professional programs may be part of the team.
  • Priority will be given to projects with a greater number of disciplines involved.
• The project must address the following:
  • a major health concern in West Virginia as defined by the West Virginia Department of Health & Human Services
  • a Healthy People 2030 Objective
• Projects must be implemented within the state of West Virginia.
  • Projects must include development and implementation as well as a sustainability plan.
  • Clinical initiatives are encouraged.
• Teams can request up to $2,500 in funding.
• Funded teams must collect data throughout their project and disseminate their work through scholarly activities.
  • All teams will present their work as a poster presentation during WVU Health Sciences Interprofessional Education Week once the project is completed.
  • All teams will develop an abstract for presentation at a national meeting.
  • Scholarly mentorship will be provided by the IPE/STEPS researcher.
• Up to four projects will be funded.
