The West Virginia University School of Public Health Master of Health Administration program will host a virtual Administrative Grand Rounds on Friday, May 3, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
Moderated by Sarah Woodrum, DrPH, interim dean, senior associate dean for administration and assistant professor in the Department of Health Policy, Management and Leadership, this expert panel discussion will focus on updates from the West Virginia State Legislature. The event is presented in conjunction with the West Virginia chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Woodrum will be joined by panelists Evan Hansen, West Virginia State Delegate, and Mike Maroney, West Virginia State Senator.
The event is free, and registration is required.
As an independent chartered chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the West Virginia ACHE Chapter is authorized to award a total of 1.0 hours of ACHE Qualifying Education credits toward advancement or recertification in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Participants in this program who wish to have it considered for ACHE Qualifying Education credit should list their attendance when they apply to the American College of Healthcare Executives for advancement or recertification.
Evan Hansen | West Virginia State Delegate
Evan Hansen was elected to the West Virginia House of Delegates in 2018, where he serves as Minority Chair of the Energy and Manufacturing Committee and the Natural Resources Committee. He founded Downstream Strategies in 1997 and serves as president. At Downstream Strategies, he works to build resilient communities, promote economic development and protect the environment. Hansen has more than 30 years of experience consulting for government agencies, nonprofit organizations and others on energy and water science, policy and planning. He received a B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an M.S. in Energy and Resources from the University of California, Berkeley.
Mike Maroney | West Virginia State Senator
Mike Maroney, MD, was elected to the West Virginia Senate in 2016 representing the 2nd district. He serves as the Chair of the Health and Human Resources Committee and Vice Chair of the Military Committee. A native of Wheeling, Maroney earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry at WVU and attended medical school at Marshall University. He completed diagnostic radiology residency training and neurology fellowship training at the University of Maryland Medical System.
Sarah Woodrum, DrPH (Moderator) | Interim Dean, School of Public Health, West Virginia University
Sarah Woodrum, DrPH, is currently serving as interim dean of the WVU School of Public Health, where she oversees the day-to-day and strategic administration and operations. She helps lead projects and programs and participates in policy development and problem resolution while providing administrative oversight to the finance office, office of research and information technology staff. Woodrum also teaches leadership courses in the Department of Health Policy, Management and Leadership.
