The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) today announced the selection of recipients of the APhA Academy of Student Pharmacist Awards as part of the 2022 APhA Awards and Honors Program, the comprehensive recognition program in the profession of pharmacy. Honorees will be officially recognized at the APhA Annual Meeting & Exposition in San Antonio, TX, March 18-21, 2022.
APhA Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA–ASP):
Linwood F. Tice Friend Award – Michael B. Doherty, PharmD, University of Cincinnati. Formerly known as the "APhA Friend of ASP Award," this award was established in 1988 to recognize an individual whose long-term services and contributions have benefited the American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA–ASP), and thereby, student pharmacists in general. The award was renamed in 1994 to honor Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science Dean Emeritus and APhA Past President Dr. Linwood F. Tice who, in his capacity as Chairman of the APhA Committee on Student Branches in 1952–55, was instrumental in the formation of the APhA organizational unit that evolved into APhA–ASP.
Outstanding Dean Award – Marie Chisholm-Burns, PharmD, MPH, MBA, FCCP, FASHP, FAST, University of Tennessee Health Science Center. The award recognizes school or college of pharmacy Deans who have made significant contributions to APhA–ASP chapters and who have promoted, with distinction, the welfare of student pharmacists through various community service, leadership, and professional activities.
Outstanding Chapter Advisor Award – Jennifer Clutter, West Virginia University School of Pharmacy. The award recognizes advisors of APhA–ASP Chapters who have promoted, with distinction, the welfare of student pharmacists through various patient care projects, community outreach, leadership development, and professional opportunities.
APhA Student Leadership Awards – Rachel B. Allen, University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Shirly Ly, University of Florida, Miranda J. Moser, West Virginia University, M. Ally White, Lipscomb University. Established in 1983, the APhA Student Leadership Awards recognize outstanding academic achievement and leadership ability in APhA-ASP at the local, regional, and national levels of students who are currently in their next to the last year of pharmacy school.
