Nearly all states require the completion of a specified number of internship hours as one of the requirements for obtaining licensure. The West Virginia Board of Pharmacy requires 1500 clock hours of internship before an individual can sit for the licensure examination. Pharmacy students who complete the structured experiential training of the curriculum will earn 1740 internship clock hours for licensure application. Students are encouraged to find employment as interns outside the curricular requirements to gain additional practice experiences.
Please note that West Virginia University academic programs are designed to prepare students for licensure or certification in West Virginia. Completion of a West Virginia University program may not meet educational requirements for licensure or certification in a state other than West Virginia. If you are planning to pursue professional licensure or certification in a state other than West Virginia, it is strongly recommended that you contact the appropriate licensing entity in that state to seek information and guidance regarding licensure or certification requirements.
